Discover seven positive affirmations that will help you learn effective meditation techniques to bring you the benefits of the law of attraction.

Meditation, positive affirmations, and the Law of Attraction are often treated as three separate tools for personal growth and development. A recently released book, Tapping the Source: Using the Master Key System for Abundance and Happiness (Sterling Publishing, 2010), skillfully combines these three tools in a seven step process that will help you achieve your dreams. Before examining how these three tools can be combined, let's consider the benefits of each separately.

The Benefits of Meditation

The benefits of meditation, such as stress relief, lowered blood pressure, pain relief, and relaxation, are well documented in scientific studies. Indeed, many hospitals and medical practices provide meditation instruction to their patients. Mindful meditation—based on the Buddhist practice of mindfulness—is touted as a means for enjoying life experiences through greater self-awareness of each moment of life experience.

Despite these benefits and the availability of meditation courses, books, and CD's, many beginners eager to learn meditation find it difficult to reap meditation's full benefits because they are unable to quiet their minds. Tapping the Source authors provide a technique for quieting the mind that seems straightforward and effective.

Positive Affirmations and Attitude

Positive affirmations are often associated with New Age books and self help materials. Affirmations are a means for creating a positive attitude, which has been shown to benefit a person's level of happiness, overall health, and goal achievement by the scientists of positive psychology. Affirmations are often a favorite tool of those working to make a lifestyle change, as an affirmation is helpful in visualizing a desired future. Tapping the Source's authors provide affirmations to help you enter into meditation. Additional affirmations engage the Law of Attraction.

The Universal Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. For example, a person continually projecting an attitude of negativity will continue to attract negative situations. The Law of Attraction became a popular topic in recent years when Rhonda Byrne's movie, The Secret, was popularized and recommended by Oprah Winfrey. Bryne's The Secret, along with other modern day writers often link the Law of Attraction to achieving greater wealth, resulting in much frustration as people failed in their attempts to attract large sums of money. As a result, the Law of Attraction has lost some luster, however it remains a valid natural law and, when utilized properly, is an effective means for manifesting any human desire.

Tapping the Source Modernizes Haanel's Master Key System

Tapping the Source skillfully ties together the three personal growth and development tools of meditation, positive affirmations, and the Law of Attraction. The authors build upon the work of Charles Haanel's Master Key System, which was published in 1912. Haanel's work is said to have inspired Napoleon Hill's well-known book, Think and Grow Rich.

The authors of Tapping the Source develop a step by step process using seven positive affirmations in a meditative state to engage the Law of Attraction and manifest one's desires. Each of the seven steps is entered with a powerful positive affirmation.

Meditation Techniques Especially for Beginners

The first two steps will illustrate the authors' process which is especially helpful to beginners learning meditation techniques or those having trouble quieting their minds.

Step One, say this affirmation to yourself: "I choose to focus enjoyably inward." Readers familiar with positive affirmation construction will notice this statement, though brief, includes the necessary components of a powerful positive affirmation: first person, present tense, end-result oriented, emotional, and concise.

Most meditation beginners struggle and give up because they are unable to quiet their minds. The authors provide an excellent tip for overcoming an active mind, a tip which they say is based on scientific evidence. While saying the first affirmation to yourself – I choose to focus enjoyably inward – simultaneously focus your attention on your breathing. Notice each breath entering through your nose and the resulting exhalation. While noticing your breath, also focus on the rise and fall of your stomach. The authors claim that a person is unable to focus on more than two simultaneous events at a time. Focusing on the breath and the rise and fall of the stomach prevents your mind from generating extraneous thoughts. Your mind is quiet and focused, the goal of meditation.

Step Two, again to yourself, say the second affirmation while continuing to focus on your breathing and your stomach: "My mind is quiet...I am in Silence." Remain with these two steps until you feel calm and relaxed, and your mind is quiet of other thoughts. This is a meditative state. You can remain here and enjoy the calming, stress-relieving benefits as long as you like.

Should you choose to use the meditation to manifest your dreams, the authors provide five affirmations which you can utilize while in the powerful connection to Source of a meditative state.

Benefits of Meditation: Attracting Your Desires

Tapping the Source skillfully teaches you to use meditation and powerful positive affirmations to utilize the Law of Attraction in manifesting your desires. Though meditating to manifest desires, you can also reasonably expect to gain the calming health benefits attributed to meditation.
